Jember, Investigasi.News- The Indonesian government (Kemendikdasmen) is encouraging schools across Indonesia to implement strict energy savings measures to reduce electricity and fuel consumption, starting in April 2026.
These steps include adjusting the AC temperature, using LED lights, maximizing natural lighting, turning off electronic devices when not in use, and saving on fuel oil consumption.
The program was welcomed by the principal of SMAN 1 Jember. Suryadi, the principal of SMAN 1 Jember, stated that energy saving for the sake of efficient energy use has been implemented at SMASA.
“Since April, we have advised teachers and students to save energy for the sake of energy efficiency such as saving electricity, water and internet usage.” said Suryadi.
Apart from that, he added that every Friday, both teachers and students use environmentally friendly transportation (cycling and walking).
“Apart from being useful for saving fuel oil consumption, using environmentally friendly transportation is also beneficial for health.” Said Suryadi.
Apart from that, in order to save electricity usage, Suryadi appealed to the classrooms that had finished being used to turn off the lights and other electronic devices.
“Hopefully, by continuing to implement government programs, energy savings, we can improve the quality of educational services and foster new enthusiasm among students at SMAN 1 Jember,” added Suryadi.
